A large patch means most of one surface, for example most of the ceiling or an area about one metre by one metre. Example: a bedroom with two patches on the ceiling and one patch on a wall counts as one room. If the mould is scattered through the whole room, such as all over the ceiling and the window frame, that also counts as one room.

Any water ingress counts: a roof leak, a tap or pipe leak, a leaking dishwasher or washing machine, an overflowing bathtub, or flooding of any kind.
